
Unsure where Los Angeles's in-the-know crowd is eating and drinking? It's easy to spot lines out the door, but some underlying trends are harder to see.
We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to deduce which eateries have been getting a significant increase in attention this month.
To find out who made the list, we looked at Los Angeles businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increase their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

CAMP pho

This health market and Vietnamese spot, which offers soup and more, is trending compared to other businesses categorized as "Vietnamese" on Yelp.
Citywide, Vietnamese spots saw review counts increase by a median of 2.3 percent over the past month, but CAMP pho saw a striking 200 percent increase, maintaining a sound 4.5-star rating throughout.
Located at 715 Lincoln Blvd. in Venice, CAMP pho offers small plates like shrimp toast spring rolls, wild mushroom egg rolls and Hanoi crab egg rolls, as well as phở bone broth with a choice of protein such as filet mignon, ribeye and meatballs.
India's Tandoori Hollywood

Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about Hollywood's India's Tandoori Hollywood, the Indian, halal and buffet spot is a hot topic according to Yelp review data.
While businesses categorized as "Halal" on Yelp increased their review count by a median of 3.1 percent over the past month, India's Tandoori Hollywood bagged an imposing 164.5 percent increase in reviews within that timeframe, maintaining a sound 4.5-star rating.
Open at 7300 Sunset Blvd. since September, India's Tandoori Hollywood offers lamb samosa, chicken tikka, shrimp tandoori, vegetable masala, garlic naan and alu vindaloo.
Studio Sushi

Studio City's Studio Sushi is also making waves. Open at 4037 Radford Ave., the sushi bar has seen an 82.4 percent bump in reviews over the last month, compared to a median review increase of 1.9 percent for all businesses tagged "Sushi Bars" on Yelp.
There's more than one hotspot trending in Los Angeles's sushi bar category: Sushi Mario has seen a 77.8 percent increase in reviews.
Studio Sushi offers a menu of sushi rolls, including a lemon roll with shrimp tempura, avocado, spicy tuna and lemon slices wrapped in soy paper; a blue crab and scallop roll; and a baked lobster roll. Over the past month, it's seen its Yelp rating improve from 4.5 stars to five stars.
Ivanhoe Restaurant & Bar

Silver Lake's Ivanhoe Restaurant & Bar is the city's buzziest traditional American spot by the numbers.
The bar and traditional American and breakfast and brunch spot, which opened at 2500 Riverside Dr. in November, increased its review count by 83.3 percent over the past month, an outlier when compared to the median review increase of 2.1 percent for the Yelp category "American (Traditional)."
It's not the only trending outlier in the traditional American category: Here & Now has seen a 62.5 percent increase in reviews.
Ivanhoe Restaurant & Bar offers breakfast and dinner. On the menu, look for avocado toast, breakfast tacos, bacon mac and cheese, pan seared salmon filet and fish and chips. Gluten-free and vegan options are available.
Le Petit Marché

Melrose's Le Petit Marché is currently on the upswing in the French category on Yelp.
While businesses categorized as "French" on Yelp increased review counts by a median of 1.6 percent over the past month, this French restaurant and bar increased its by 23 percent—and kept its rating consistent at 4.5 stars.
Open for business at 5665 Melrose Ave., it offers breakfast, sandwiches, salads and more. The French menu features classic dishes such as tartines, croque monsieur and croque madame, moules frites and Nicoise salade.
