If you love music, there's no time like the present when it comes to getting out and about in Washington. From classical to hip-hop to songs about about the immigrant experience, here are the local shows worth checking out this weekend.

Examine recently declassified manuscripts from world-renowned composers

First up, head over to the Library of Congress to examine some recently acquired music manuscripts that offer the initial thinking of some great composers. Dr. David Plylar from the Library will explain some of what's been found, and you'll also get a chance to hear some alternative takes on classic pieces composed by Brahms, Beethoven, Haydn and others.

Party on a roof

Next, RedRocks on H Street is hosting a day party this Saturday. A live DJ will spinning hip-hop, Latin and Top 40 hits, while drink specials and brunch dishes are consumed.

Celebrate black composers

Also this Saturday afternoon, Dunbar High School hosts a free concert celebrating black composers. The repertoire will feature classical, jazz, gospel and sacred music by composers of African descent, played by some of the area's top musicians.

Consider migrants' experiences

Finally, as part of its "The World in Our City: Latinx in D.C." project, Washington Performing Arts facilitates a concert at All Souls Unitarian Church. Renowned opera singers and musicians will join with local youth to perform songs and spoken word poetry that reflect the challenges, hopes and strivings of migrants.
