
Crime incidents in Anaheim saw an overall decrease last week, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 423 for the week of Jan. 28, down from 448 the week before.
The offenses that decreased the most were burglary and theft. Burglary fell to 69 incidents last week, from 93 the week before. Theft went from 62 to 42.

There were 25 reported assault incidents last week. That represents a decrease from 28 incidents the previous week. There was also one shooting incident.

There were 266 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of 26 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, eight involved arrests, such as for drug possession, the same number as the week before.
Looking at crime patterns in different areas of the city, West Anaheim, Northwest Anaheim, and Southwest Anaheim continued to have the most reported incidents.
Regarding day and time factors, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Mondays saw the most reported crimes. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays, while incidents on Wednesdays, Sundays and went up. Midday, late afternoon and early afternoon saw the most crime.
