EMMS Annual Meeting
First, join Eastern Market Main Street (EMMS) for its annual meeting to cheer accomplishments of the past year and learn about what's in store for 2019. Part of a nationwide movement to revitalize America's historic commercial districts, EMMS is dedicated to promoting, retaining and attracting diverse, small businesses in this section of Capital Hill.

Commemoration of Black History Month with Curtis Harris
Next, American University historian Curtis Harris leads this talk about the experiences of Anna Harrison Chase, a formerly enslaved woman living in Washington, D.C. during and after the Civil War. You will meet at President Lincoln's summer cottage, then walk over to the Armed Forces Retirement for the program.

LezLink Happy Hour: February!!!
The Eighteenth Street Lounge is the site for the February edition of LezLink's monthly happy hour. LezLink, a social event organizer for D.C. lesbian singles, friends and couples, bills the gathering as a safe space for queer women to meet new friends over food and drinks.

African American & Black History Art Tour at the Smithsonian
Finally, there is this tour of the Smithsonian American Art Museum/National Portrait Gallery organized by the non-profit Washington, D.C. History & Culture. Tour host Robert Kelleman will guide you through the galleries to explore African-American art history, including the famous portraits of Barrack and Michele Obama.
