
Crime incidents in Plano saw an overall decrease last month, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources.
Incidents fell by 2.4 percent, from 1,087 in December to 1,061 in January. Crime levels tend to follow seasonal patterns, and some of the most common offenses tend to decline in winter, which might partly explain the most recent downward trend.

The month-to-month decrease in incidents was led by burglary and assault. Burglary fell from 163 reported incidents in December to 129 in January. Assault incidents went from 138 to 132 for the month, or a 4.3 percent decrease.
There was one reported arson last month, and seven robbery incidents. Arson incidents remained at about the same level as in the previous month, while robbery reports decreased by one incidents.
Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, theft reports went from 491 to 492.

Looking at crime patterns in different areas of the city, the largest decline last month occurred in Forman, Thunderbird and Liberty Park. Caddo Park, Village Creek and Park Forest also saw considerable percentage increases in crime offenses for the month, although they continue to have lower overall crime levels.
Wednesdays, Thursdays and Tuesdays saw the most reported crimes last month. The largest decrease from the previous month occurred on Mondays, Sundays and Thursdays, while incidents on Wednesdays, Tuesdays and went up. late afternoon, early afternoon and late night saw the most crime last month on average each day.
