The number of crime incidents in Yorba Linda saw an overall decrease last week, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 180 for the week of Feb. 11, down from 193 the week before.

The specific offenses that decreased the most were assault and robbery. Assault fell to three incidents last week, from five the week before. Robbery went from seven to five.

There was one reported shooting last week. That represents a steady state from the previous week. There were also 17 incidents of theft, down from 18 the week before.

Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick, reports of burglary went from 63 to 68.

There were 86 reports of "other" crimes, a decrease of seven from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations.

Regarding day and time factors, Saturdays, Sundays and Thursdays produced the most reported crimes. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while incidents on Saturdays and Thursdays went up. Comparing times of day, evening, late morning, and late afternoon saw the most crime.
