The number of crime incidents in Anaheim saw an overall increase last week, after a previous decline, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose to 459 for the week of March 11, up from 441 the week before.

The specific offenses that increased the most were burglary and robbery. Burglary rose to 89 incidents last week, from 85 the week before. Robbery went from four to five. Reports of burglary have continued to grow for the last four weeks.

While a somewhat smaller category, there was also an increase in shootings, from zero incidents per week to one.

There were 26 reported assault incidents last week. That represents a steady state from the previous week.

Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last week, reports of theft went from 61 to 55, and vandalism fell from 26 to 21.

There were 262 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of 23 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, 20 involved arrests, such as for drug possession, up from 15 reported arrests the week before.

As far as where crime is concentrated in the city, West Anaheim, Southeast Anaheim and Southwest Anaheim continued to have the most reported incidents last week.

Southwest Anaheim saw the largest increase. Crime reports in Northwest Anaheim also rose, after declining the week before, and incidents in Southeast Anaheim are up considerably as well.

Regarding day and time factors, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Tuesdays saw the most crime incidents last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Tuesdays as well, while incidents on Mondays, Saturdays and Fridays went down. Comparing times of day, late afternoon, early afternoon and late morning saw the most crime last week.
