First, join a community town hall meeting to discuss education and building a pipeline of minorities and inner city youth trained for careers in science, education, technology and math. Knight Arts Challenge Information Session

This Wednesday, local artists are invited to an information session exploring how to apply for the Knight Arts Challenge — which will divvy up $2 million in funding to the best local art proposals submitted. Attendees will hear from the foundation's arts director or program officer on the challenge's basic details and what they look for in proposals, and past grant winners.

Science of Grief

Or, join poet and activist Natasha T. Miller for an overnight exploration of seven different types of grief: queer, suicide, trans, sibling, Detroit, parent, disease and illness. Neuroscientist Dr. Yewande Pearse will kick off the event with a discussion of "trauma genes" and the latest scientific research showing how they impact people's lives.
