The number of crime incidents in San Antonio saw an overall decline last month, after a previous rise, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources.
Incidents fell by 6.8 percent, from 40,354 in January to 37,623 in February.
Theft and burglary incidents declined the most from the previous month. Theft fell from 10,122 reported incidents in January to 9,183 in February. Burglary incidents went from 2,259 to 2,062 for the month, or an 8.7 percent decrease.
There were two arson reports last month, and 409 shooting incidents. Arson incidents remained at about the same level as in the previous month, while shooting reports decreased by 95 incidents.
Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last month, assault reports went from 4,461 to 4,665.
Considering the concentration of crime across the city, the largest decline last month occurred in Quintana Community, Thompson Community and Highland Hills.
Mondays, Fridays and Wednesdays saw the most reported crimes last month. The largest decrease from the previous month occurred on Thursdays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, while incidents on Sundays, Mondays and Fridays went up. Comparing times of day, late afternoon, evening and midday saw the most crime last month on average each day.
