
The number of crime incidents in San Antonio saw an overall increase last week, for the second week in a row, according to data from SpotCrime, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents rose to 8,976 for the week of March 18, up from 8,740 the week before.
The specific offenses that increased the most were theft and assault. Theft rose slightly to 1,877 incidents last week, from 1,840 the week before. Assault went from 924 to 936. Reports of assault have continued to grow for the last two weeks.

There were 101 reported shooting incidents last week. That represents an increase from 100 incidents the previous week. There were also 92 incidents of robbery.
Among the few types of offenses that saw a downturn last week, reports of burglary went from 467 to 427, and vandalism fell from 278 to 273.

There were 5,270 reports of "other" crimes, an increase of 231 from the previous week. SpotCrime's broad "other" category includes a variety of offenses like fraud, trespassing, public disturbance and traffic violations. Of those incidents, 274 involved arrests, such as for drug possession, up from 212 reported arrests the week before.
Considering the concentration of crime across the city, Downtown, Highland Hills and Prospect Hill continued to have the most reported incidents last week.
Pecan Valley saw the largest increase. Crime reports in Shearer Hills - Ridgeview also rose, after declining the week before, and incidents in Northwest Los Angeles Heights are up considerably as well.
Regarding day and time factors, Mondays, Wednesdays and Tuesdays saw the most crime incidents last week. The largest increase from the previous week occurred on Mondays, Wednesdays and Tuesdays, while incidents on Fridays, Sundays and Saturdays went down. Comparing times of day, evening, early afternoon and late afternoon saw the most crime last week.
