A new New American spot has made its debut in the neighborhood. The new arrival, called Whiskey Cake, is located at 2223 N. Westshore Blvd.
Whiskey Cake sources its ingredients locally to craft brunch, lunch and dinner dishes. It also serves up wine, beer and specialty cocktails like the Black Manhattan, made of Redemption Rye, coffee bean-infused Averna Amaro and Bittermen’s Xocolatl Mole Bitters.
The menu ranges from snacks like the crispy fried pig ears to grilled meals like the whiskey-braised short rib. Also look for early-morning entrées like the farmer’s breakfast plate, made with sunny-up local eggs, herbed potatoes, sweet and spicy thick cut Cherrywood bacon, buttered jalapeño-cheddar biscuits and poblano grits.
With a 4.5-star rating out of 59 reviews on Yelp so far, Whiskey Cake has already made a good impression.
Brandie M., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on April 3, wrote, "How can you resist a new restaurant called Whiskey Cake? It turns out they have a small herb garden they use for recipes and drinks; along with a small space to purchase a small batch and some local goodies! The menu is eclectic and fresh and not overly complicated."
And Peter N. added, "As a scotch and whiskey fan, this place is awesome! I had the scotch flight and it included a wonderful selection. I'll definitely be back. Some of the food I saw coming out of the kitchen had me wanting to try more. Not to mention how they repurpose items to use around the restaurant — well done."
Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Whiskey Cake is open from 11 a.m.–11 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.–midnight on Friday, 9 a.m.–midnight on Saturday and 9 a.m.–10 p.m. on Sunday.
