Detroit Can Film Festival

Join us for the first annual festival event. Detroit Can Film Festival (DCFF) celebrates the ability to effectively tell a concise story. The aim is to constantly meet the desire and demand of the American public’s evolving means of understanding and consuming narratives. Students who live and/or attend school from Detroit, Hamtramck and Highland Park ages 14-18 were eligible; they submitted 10 second films on this year's theme, "The Water in My life". At our inaugural event, we'll screen the student films along with some great student-produced pieces from the Y Media Works program at Y Arts Detroit.

Scripps Park Community Festival

The Woodbridge Neighborhood Development Corporation, Woodbridge Citizens' Council and the Douglass Branch Library are organizing our second annual Scripps Park Community Festival. A full day of fun in the park featuring live bands, food, children’s activities (bounce house, face painting, arts/crafts), community information tables and health screenings, book drive for the library and much more. The 2019 OURS Film Festival presented by As Detroits Own puts emphasis on the word festival. The interior of the beautiful Senate theatre will be transformed to host an art exhibit featuring some of the most talented Michigan artists. The exterior will also see transformation in the form of a halfpipe with high flying skateboarders, BMX riders, and even scooters. (Still Pending Approval) . Attendees can explore the inside of this beautiful theatre before the premiere event, “The Short Film Festival”. We will be screening films submitted by filmmakers, Youtubers, and content creators alike. The short films will be curated from winning submissions with one of them receiving a $500 grand prize.
