Coffee and tea fans, take heed: There's a new spot in town to get your fix. Located at 20 E. Congress St., Suite 110, the new addition is called HeeMee Coffee + Bakery.
Owner HeeMee Kim is a native of Seoul, Korea, and bases her baked goods on Korean, French and Japanese recipes. According to the business' Facebook page, "HeeMee Coffee + Bakery serves fresh pastries made from scratch daily alongside Verve Coffee Roasters espresso and drip coffees, and locally roasted Yellow Brick Coffee’s famous cold brew."
Menu items also include carrot muffins, blueberry scones and bingsoo — a Korean dessert made of shaved ice and topped with red beans and condensed milk.
With a five-star rating out of six reviews on Yelp so far, the new addition has already made a good impression.
Moe G., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on June 16, wrote, "My friends and I each got a cold brew and three different pastries. I cannot remember what they were called, but I can tell you they were delicious. They're dense and light at the same time. They aren't too sweet, and are unique enough that you can't find anything here anywhere else in Tucson."
And Kathryn W. wrote, "What a wonderful addition to downtown Tucson. Really good coffee, lovely Japanese style pastries. Friendly staff, reasonable prices and a beautiful light and airy space."
Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. HeeMee Coffee + Bakery is open from 7 a.m.–4 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m.–5 p.m. on Saturday. (It's closed on Sunday.)
