We took a data-driven look at the question, using Yelp to discover which eateries have been getting extra attention this month.
To find out who made the list, we looked at Los Angeles businesses on Yelp by category and counted how many reviews each received. Rather than compare them based on number of reviews alone, we calculated a percentage increase in reviews over the past month, and tracked businesses that consistently increased their volume of reviews to identify statistically significant outliers compared to past performance.

The Manufactory

Whether or not you've been hearing buzz about downtown Los Angeles's The Manufactory, the bakery and marketplace is a hot topic according to Yelp review data.
While businesses categorized as "Bakeries" on Yelp saw a median 2 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, The Manufactory bagged a 42.9 percent increase in new reviews within that timeframe, maintaining a mixed 3.5-star rating. It significantly outperformed the previous month by gaining 4.5 times more reviews than expected based on its past performance.

Honeybee Burger

Los Feliz's Honeybee Burger is the city's buzziest burger spot by the numbers.

Citywide, businesses tagged "Ramen" saw a median 3 percent increase in new reviews over the past month, but Mogumogu saw a 69 percent increase, with a slight downward trend from a five-star rating a month ago to 4.5 stars today.

While businesses categorized as "American (Traditional)" on Yelp increased their media new review count by 1.8 percent over the past month, Buddy's nabbed a 36.1 percent increase in reviews within that timeframe, maintaining a healthy four-star rating.
