The number of crime incidents in Plano saw an overall decrease last week after a previous rise, according to data from CrimeoMeter, which collects data from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 172 for the week of July 21, down from 264 the week before.

Fraud or financial crimes and burglary led the decrease in crime incidents. Fraud or financial crimes fell to 16 incidents last week, from 42 the week before. Burglary cases went down from 39 to 15.

Among other categories, there was also a decrease in criminal mischief, from 22 incidents per week to 11, and in assault, from 30 to 18 incidents.

There was one reported arson last week. That represents a decrease from two incidents the previous week. There were also three incidents of homicide.

Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last week, reports of alcohol-related offenses increased from six to 11. Incidents of robbery rose from one to four, and drug-related offenses went up from 10 to 12.

There were 21 reports of miscellaneous other crimes, a decrease of nine from the previous week. Other crimes includes a variety of offenses like trespassing, public disturbance and violation of a court order.

Considering the concentration of crime across the city, Briarwood, Armstrong Park and Cross Creek had the most reported incidents last week. Additionally, Briarwood was at the top of the list the previous week.

Crime in Park Forest decreased the most. Crime reports in Liberty Park also fell, after increasing the week before, and incidents in Clearview are down considerably, as well.

Regarding when most crimes are committed, Sunday, Wednesday and Monday saw the most crime incidents last week. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Monday, Thursday and Friday. Comparing times of day, late afternoon, midday and evening saw the most crime last week.
