A new Filipino spot has opened up shop for delivery and takeout in the neighborhood. Located at 615 N. Western Ave. in Melrose, the new arrival is called Rice Guys.
The newcomer — situated inside digital food hall Cloud Kitchens — is a project from Andrew Marco and Ralph Hsiao, explains the eatery on its website, two brothers who "started serving the Los Angeles community through kamayans and Filipino dinner pop-ups as rctngl."
On the menu, look for vegetarian egg rolls and hearty rice bowls complete with toppings such as grilled pork belly, charred bok choy, Chinese eggplant and organic chicken wings. (You can check out the full menu here.)
Rice Guys has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a 4.5-star rating out of 29 reviews on Yelp.
J. D W., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Aug. 18, wrote, "Tucked into the back of a shared kitchen, Rice Guys feels like the best kind of secret. Their food is delicious, fast and gorgeously plated."
And Yelper Ryan F. added, "Oh those chicken wings... they hit on everything you want in a bite that leads to a light umami feeling sweeping over you. There is an incredible crunch to it, it's savory yet sweet. Not too sweet, but very well-balanced and each wing has a good amount of meat!"
Interested? Stop by to welcome the new business to the neighborhood. Rice Guys is open from 11 a.m.–9 p.m. on Tuesday-Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
