The number of crime incidents in Dallas saw an overall decrease last week for the second week in a row, according to data from CrimeoMeter, which collects reports from police agencies and validated sources. Incidents fell to 2,154 for the week of Aug. 26, down from 2,370 the week before.

The specific offenses that decreased the most were burglary and assault. Burglary fell to 136 incidents last week, down from 170 the week prior. Assault cases went down from 175 to 143.

Among other categories, there was also a decline in fraud or financial crimes, from 49 incidents per week down to 32, and in auto theft, from 178 to 153 incidents.

There were two reported homicide incidents last week. That represents a decrease from six incidents the previous week. There were also 402 incidents of theft, down from 426 the week before.

Among the few types of offenses that saw an uptick last week, reports of robbery increased from 58 to 64. Drug-related offenses rose from 14 to 16, and arson cases went up from one to two.

There were 942 reports of miscellaneous other crimes, a decrease of 84 from the previous week. Other crimes include a variety of offenses like trespassing, public disturbance and violation of a court order.

Considering the concentration of crime across the city, Northeast Dallas, Southeast Dallas and Preston Hollow had the most reported incidents last week. Northeast Dallas and Southeast Dallas were also at the top of the list the previous week.

Northeast Dallas experienced the largest drop in crime. Crime reports in North Dallas also fell, after increasing the week before, and incidents in Oak Lawn are down considerably, as well.

Regarding day and time factors, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday saw the most crime incidents last week. The largest decrease from the previous week occurred on Sunday, Saturday and Monday. Comparing times of day, late morning, midday and late afternoon saw the most crime last week.
