New Indian spot Rooh Columbus debuts in Victorian VillagePhoto: Taruni K./Yelp

A new Indian and gluten-free spot has opened for business in the neighborhood. Located at 685 N. High St. in Victorian Village, the fresh addition is called Rooh Columbus.

Rooh Columbus describes itself as a "progressive Indian restaurant," according to the business' Facebook page. "Renowned Executive Chef Sujan Sarkar blends charming, seasonal dishes that are an interpretation of customary Indian sensibilities with his use," it continues.

On the menu, look for the chicken malai tikka, which is an Amul cheese fondue with a walnut crumble, as well as tandoor smoked pork belly with Padron peppers. In terms of larger plates, the spot offers a beef short ribs curry, a butter chicken dish and a lamb shank nihari with fresh ginger, rose and cilantro and chili oil.

Rooh Columbus has garnered rave reviews thus far, with a four-star rating out of 14 reviews on Yelp.

Megan G., who was among the first Yelpers to review the new spot on Nov. 15, wrote, "Every single dish was interesting and delicious. The menu plays with both texture and flavor. Can I go back now?"

Josh B. wrote, "For small plates, we got the lamb and the cauliflower. Both were fantastic. For mains, we got the butter chicken and the paneer pinwheel. Both were great. The chicken was a little sweeter than I am used to, and the paneer pinwheel was very flavorful."

Intrigued? Stop in to try it for yourself. Rooh Columbus is open from 4 p.m.–10 p.m. on Tuesday through Thursday, 4 p.m.–11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m.–9 p.m. on Sunday. (It's closed on Monday.)
