Topping the list is Woody's Famous Salads. Located at 1722 S. Dale Mabry Highway in Golf View, the spot to score sandwiches, salads and soups is the highest-rated budget-friendly soup spot in Tampa, boasting 4.5 stars out of 96 reviews on Yelp.

We looked there for more about Woody's Famous Salads, which is well known for its salads and sandwiches, first opened its doors in 1972.

"Our salads have long been a staple in South Tampa beginning with the original Famous Greek Salad," it states on Yelp in the section about specialties. "Farm fresh fruits and vegetables from our local farmer's market are the base of all our creations at Woody's."

Next is Golf View's Barrow's Gourmet Deli, situated at 3660 Henderson Blvd. With 4.5 stars out of 53 reviews on Yelp, the deli, which offers soups, sandwiches and more, has proven to be a local favorite for those looking for a budget-friendly option.

The site can tell you a thing or two more about Barrow's Gourmet Deli, a family owned restaurant that has been around since 1984.

The business specializes in custom-made sandwiches, which are made with "premium Boar's Head delicatessen meats and cheeses, daily baked fresh breads, and our specialty dressings made in house," the business states on its Yelp profile. "Our desserts, salads and soups are made with the same attention to freshness and quality."

Plaza Terrace's The Tutored Chef, located at 4401 N. Himes Ave., Suite 150, is another top choice, with Yelpers giving the affordable traditional American spot, which offers soups and pizza, 4.5 stars out of 16 reviews.

We turned to the site for more information about this spot. Part of the Culinary School at the Art Institute, it's run by students with guidance from chefs and offers a single course or five-course meals.

Yelper Christina G., who reviewed The Tutored Chef on May 13,  wrote, "Fantastic meals for cheap! I got to try Caesar salad, crawfish etouffee, a coconut curry shrimp dish, lamb, a chicken stir fry, fingerling potatoes, broccoli au gratin, chocolate mousse and brownies. Please don't take my table, because I plan to be back!"
