
Earlier Today, the U.S. Department of Education announced that 18 schools from Los Angeles and Orange counties were among the 33 institutions across the state to be bestowed the highly esteemed National Blue Ribbon honor. This recognition is granted to schools primarily based on their overall academic performance or for demonstrating significant progress in closing achievement gaps between students of diverse backgrounds.
A total of 353 schools across the country have received this honor, emphasizing the remarkable accomplishment of these 18 local schools that have risen above countless others to set a precedent in education. In a Daily News report, U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona expressed his adulation: "The honorees for our 2023 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award have set a national example for what it means to Raise the Bar in education."
The awarded schools comprise of a diverse range of institutions located within Los Angeles and Orange counties, such as the Martha Baldwin Elementary School in Alhambra Unified School District, Los Molinos Elementary School in Hacienda La Puente Unified School District, Grace Miller Elementary School in Bonita Unified School District, and many others as reported by Fox LA.
Secretary Cardona believes that "The leaders, educators, and staff at our National Blue Ribbon Schools continually inspire me with their dedication to fostering academic excellence and building positive school cultures that support students of all backgrounds to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally."
