The pursuit began around 12:40 a.m., when Azusa police officers started chasing after an alleged armed carjacking suspect, who was driving a Toyota pickup truck eastbound on the 210 Freeway at Azusa Avenue. According to Key News Network, California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit near the 210 and 57 Freeways in San Dimas, ensuring the chase didn't let up.
As the alleged carjacking suspects continued to evade law enforcement, their pursuit traversed multiple freeways before ultimately concluding in the Sun Valley neighborhood within the San Fernando Valley. It was in Sun Valley where the suspects' pickup truck was involved in the rollover collision that ended the high-speed chase.
At least four people were arrested at the scene, which featured video footage of the damaged CHP unit and two of the suspects promptly placed into ambulances.
