
Fairfield police apprehended two individuals in unrelated incidents on September 1. – both found in possession of loaded handguns. These occurrences serve as a stark reminder of the ongoing concerns surrounding gun violence within our society.
According to a Fairfield Police Department post on Facebook, at 9:15 p.m., officers received dispatch information about a stolen vehicle, originating from CoCo CHP. A combined effort led to the vehicle's location and subsequent arrest of the driver, Suavantae McCray, who was on probation out of San Francisco. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded handgun, with McCray admitting the firearm was his. Ultimately, the vehicle was towed, McCray was booked, and his fellow passengers were released at the scene.
Shortly after, at around 9:41 pm, a traffic enforcement stop conducted by Officer Cole Spencer in the area of Scott Street and Dustin Way ended in another arrest of a man possessing a loaded handgun. The driver, Jamaal Williams, was identified as a convicted felon. Upon discovering Williams's concealed weapon within a backpack, he was arrested and booked, given that convicted felons are prohibited from carrying firearms. These two separate incidents further underscore the seriousness of the ongoing battle against gun violence.
