On the last week of August, a routine traffic enforcement stop in Grande Circle took an unexpected turn, as two loaded pistols were discovered within the vehicle. The stop conducted by Officer Cole Spencer, serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking beneath seemingly innocuous encounters between law enforcement and citizens.
According to a Facebook post detailing the event, Officer Spencer approached the vehicle, which held a driver and passenger, when he noticed a partially concealed cutting instrument in the passenger's front pocket. Upon further investigation, a loaded pistol was found tucked into the passenger's waistband.
The driver, too, was removed from the vehicle and a search revealed another loaded pistol, this one containing an extended magazine, hidden under the driver's seat. Both individuals were arrested and subsequently booked into County Jail on weapons-related charges.While the nature of these weapon-related charges remains undisclosed, the discovery of these concealed firearms in a seemingly unremarkable situation serves as a sobering reminder for law enforcement everywhere to remain vigilant and thoroughly investigate their surroundings.
