Yesterday morning, a juvenile passenger died following a solo collision. The Vallejo Police Department responded to a distress call near Columbus Parkway and Redwood Parkway.
The wreck involved a 2005 Toyota Tundra that lost control and slammed into the center median. In a desperate attempt to regain control, the vehicle spiraled and rolled over, finally coming to rest in the opposite lane of traffic. This deadly calamity was Vallejo's sixth fatal traffic collision in 2023.
The juvenile driver, who managed to survive the crash, was quickly transported to a local hospital for treatment. However, their companion, another juvenile, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Vallejo Police Department is withholding the decedent's name.
In their investigation, authorities determined that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor at this time. The driver, for their part, is cooperating with the police's ongoing inquiry into the accident. Corporal Kenneth Trimble of the Vallejo Police Department Patrol Division implores anyone with further information to contact him, and potential witnesses have been encouraged to refer to case #23-8689.
