A home invasion occured in South Los Angeles in which a victim managed to escaped four suspects who broke into the man's apartment near 32nd Street and Central Avenue and tied him up before ransacking his home, according Fox LA.
The victim managed to untie himself and flee his apartment, later calling 911 and informing responders that the perpetrators remained in his home. As CBS News reported, the suspects were apprehended by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers who arrived on the scene in the early afternoon. Two suspects were promptly arrested, while a third suspect, armed with a hammer, jumped out of the building towards the direction of the officers, which led to a shooting.
Following a tense exchange of gunfire, the armed suspect was shot and transported to a nearby hospital, as another ABC7 article highlighted. The fourth suspect was eventually apprehended without further incident, and all four suspects are now in custody.
The homeowner, though understandably shaken, was not physically harmed during the ordeal. In an interview with ABC7, LAPD Capt. Kelly Muniz commented on the importance of capturing criminals like these, stating, "We're lucky that they made that choice because we can take these people off of the streets and not have any more people victimized." The incident may serve as a stark reminder for communities to remain vigilant and maintain the security of their properties.
LAPD's efficient response to the harrowing situation combined with the victim's tenacity ultimately resulted in all four perpetrators being apprehended near LAPD's Newton Station. Investigations into this brazen daytime home invasion continue, and authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
