A loaded gun and gang-related graffiti were uncovered by Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) at the scene of vandalism on Sunset Avenue as reported by a recent article.

An anonymous alert community member noticed a group of about 20 individuals tagging several residential buildings and reported them to the police.

This eventually led to the detainment of several suspects and the discovery of the revolver, graffiti, and gang associations.

Interestingly, while the city of Santa Rosa has witnessed five homicides since January 1, 2023, four of these incidents have been linked with gang activity.

Due to staffing concerns, the team, consisting of four detectives and one sergeant, was dissolved, and plans are now underway to resurrect it by the end of the year.
