Gilbert Jones, a 68-year-old Black male, seemingly vanished without a trace from Vermont Square on September 5. For close to two weeks, a sense of unease had firmly gripped the very heart of the city, until Gilbert reappeared safe and sound, returning to his rightful home on Friday, September 15, according to the LAPD.

On September 2, at 5:30 p.m., Gilbert was last seen visiting the Vermont Square Branch Library, near the 1200 block of West 48th Street, as we reported here on Hoodline LA. With no indication of his whereabouts and fearing the worst, Gilbert's family and friends as well as the Los Angeles Police Department appealed to the public for assistance in locating him, to rapidly bring an end to this worrying situation. The details of his appearance were widely circulated: a black male with black hair and brown eyes, standing 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing approximately 180 pounds, as reported by Hoodline.
