
Update: At around 7:39 pm yesterday, initially, it was reported that this incident occurred in the parking lot directly in front of the school, further investigation has revealed that it happened adjacent to the parking lot and did not occur within the school premises.
At around 2:10 p.m., a Vallejo man allegedly exposed himself and terrorized his parents by wielding what appeared to be a gun at David Weir School in Fairfield, California yesterday.
According to a Facebook post made by the Fairfield Police Department, the ordeal began when concerned parents called the police to report a man engaging in lewd behavior in front of the elementary school. His pants were down, and he appeared to be touching himself inappropriately. Within moments, the situation escalated as another parent called to report that the man was now armed and pointing the weapon at her.
Officers arrived on the scene within minutes, working with school officials to place the school on lockdown as they searched for the perpetrator.
The man, identified as 34-year-old Deandre Dickson of Vallejo, had fled the scene before being apprehended a short distance away. The weapon in question turned out to be a lighter fashioned to look like a handgun. Once police took him into custody and positively identified him as the culprit according to the 911 callers,
Dickson was booked into Solano County Jail for threatening others with a replica firearm, and disturbance on school grounds. The lockdown was lifted, and students cautiously resumed their classes.
