"Operation Consequences," a targeted crime suppression initiative, has been launched by San Bernardino County as a strategic move to combat local crime. Running from September 30 to October 6, the operation has already made a significant impact, according to a press release from the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.
From its initiation, the operation made 12 felony arrests and seized more than a pound of illegal narcotics and eight firearms, including a so-called "ghost gun". These were as a result of 11 search warrants served across San Bernardino, Victorville, Hesperia, and Apple Valley.
Funding for Operation Consequences was allocated by the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. The added financial backing to actively focus on disrupting gangs, arresting criminals possessing or trafficking firearms illegally. Reducing violent crime in High Desert and around the city of San Bernardino will be the key billings of the Sheriff's Department under this operation.
Multiple law enforcement agencies are partaking to make Operation Consequences a success. It has been actualized through collaboration with the California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, the Department of Homeland Security Investigations, and various divisions within the Sheriff's Department.
