Law enforcement agencies in Southern California have recently concluded "Operation Consequences," a coordinated crime reduction effort executed from October 21 to October 27. The operation, spanning across San Bernardino, Victorville, Riverside, and Palm Springs, significantly impacted criminal activity within these zones, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
Designed to address quality-of-life issues within their respective communities, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors authorized the necessary funds to support this county-wide crime suppression initiative. San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, in collaboration with patrol station deputies, pulled over numerous suspects throughout the operation, resulting in nine felony arrests, as per the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reports.
As part of the investigations, a total of 49 pounds of methamphetamine, other illegal narcotics, and 17 firearms were seized, including three ghost guns. Ghost guns, untraceable due to their absence of serial numbers, pose a growing concern with their black market accessibility.
The role played by a collaboration between different law enforcement agencies is central in carrying out successful ventures like these. Personnel from the Sheriff's Gangs/Narcotics Division, Specialized Enforcement Division, patrol stations, California Highway Patrol, San Bernardino County Probation, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, and Department of Homeland Security Investigations, came together for this operation. These partnerships underscore the effectiveness of shared intelligence in crime suppression efforts.
Aiming to create safer environments for the residents of San Bernardino County, Operation Consequences set concrete objectives of combating gang activity, reducing violent crime, and addressing the illegal possession, manufacturing, and trafficking of firearms.
