Yesterday, helicopters from the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) and Quick Reaction Force (QRF) provided aerial reconnaissance for a refuse fire at the Olinda Alpha landfill in unincorporated Brea. The refuse fire was effectively contained, preventing any spread into neighboring vegetation, according to an update posted on the OCFA's Facebook page.
During this incident, the OCFA and QRF helicopters promptly detected a refuse fire that had been reported as a potential vegetation fire by local hikers. Despite the landfill, situated in unincorporated Brea, having experienced previous fires, firefighters on the ground, this time, were able to quickly confine the fire before any spread to the nearby brush occurred. Subsequently, the scene was left to the care of OC Waste and Recycling personnel and equipment.
