A collision between a Riverside County Sheriff's deputy and a bicyclist on October 10th resulted in the tragic death of the bicyclist in Palm Desert, California. The sheriff's department press release revealed that the deputy was not responding to an emergency during the incident, which took place near County Club Drive and Eldorado Drive.
33-year-old Christopher Thomas was the identified Palm Desert resident who was declared dead at the scene as stated in the Riverside County Sheriff's Coroner's report. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has launched an investigation of this incident.
According to a report by KESQ News Channel 3, the collision subsequently caused the closure of Country Club Drive between Cook Street and Eldorado Drive.
