Last month, September 28, a brutal assault involving a pair of bolt cutters unsettled the Venice neighborhood at Speedway and Market Street. The attack, caught on video, led to a wide-ranging search for the two suspects involved. The the LAPD is endeavoring to identify the culprits.

The male victim, known only as Kyle, encountered the two suspects walking their bicycles just after 2 a.m, as per the LAPD Newsroom. What soon followed was an argument which escalated to an attack, indicating the first suspect swinging bolt cutters at Kyle. Though he initially evaded the blow, Kyle was eventually punched, knocked down, and kicked in his head.

Documented by KTLA, a second assault led to Kyle being hit at the back of his head with the tool, causing him to lose consciousness. The suspects fled the scene on their bicycles.

Following the incident, Kyle was taken to a local hospital, having suffered significant head injuries. A surgical procedure involving drilling a hole into his skull was required to reduce swelling, with doctors indicating that he narrowly escaped severe brain damage or death, as reported by KTLA.

The LAPD is presently distributing descriptive details of the suspects to help secure their arrest. The first suspect, an African American male with black hair and beard, was dressed in black clothing and gray tennis shoes. The second suspect, also African American, was identified as having glasses, a gold long-sleeve dress shirt, and black pants with gray tennis shoes, according to the NBC Los Angeles.
