Last week, 34-year-old Bernardo Angel Perez from Perris, California was arrested on charges of grand theft. The arrest followed the discovery of thousands of dollars worth of merchandise that had been stolen from several Home Depot stores, in his home, according to SBSD - Apple Valley Police Department.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department detailed the events leading to the arrest. It started with Deputy D. Vallejo responding to theft reports at an Apple Valley Home Depot, where merchandise worth $1,400 had been stolen earlier this month.

As the investigation progressed, Vallejo and detectives from Apple Valley PD were led to a Riverside County residence. The search warrant was executed on October 24 at the 2300 block of Stonybrook Way in Perris. Approximately $20,000 worth of stolen merchandise from various Home Depot stores, including those in Victorville and Apple Valley, was discovered within.

Perez was arrested at the residence during the search warrant execution and transported to the West Valley Detention Center, where his bail was set at $30,000.

Further investigation into potential co-conspirators and the theft's broader implications is ongoing. The enforcement of laws against retail theft remains an essential activity to numerous law enforcement authorities.
