
The Chair of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, Janice Hahn, has recently appointed South Gate native Denise Diaz to the Los Angeles County Commission for Women. The former South Gate City Council member, Diaz adds her experience and perspective to the Commission, contributing to the forum's mission of advising the Board of Supervisors on key women's issues within the county according to its official press release.
"Denise's leadership in South Gate and her partnership with LA County in serving our residents have been commendable," commented Hahn. "The historically underserved Southeast LA's representation on this Commission will help shape decisions for the betterment of LA County's females. Denise will be the voice for the region," added Hahn.
A California State Long Beach alumna holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, Diaz is a seasoned public servant. Her experienced career includes a position at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington, D.C., subsequent roles at the California State Department of Public Health, and an appointment by Governor Gavin Newsom to the San Gabriel and Lower LA Rivers and Mountains Conservancy Governing Board. Currently, she is serving as the Director of Public Affairs for TCS Professional Psychology, according to the press release.
Upon her appointment, Diaz stated: “I'm both humbled and thrilled to serve on the LA County Commission for Women, advocating for women’s rights, equity, and children's well-being. I am extremely grateful to Supervisor Janice Hahn for the opportunity to have a positive influence in our community.”
