Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World have announced immediate hikes in prices for tickets, annual passes, and parking. Ticket prices at Disneyland have risen up to 9% ($5 to $65 more), while annual passes at Walt Disney World saw a 10% increase as reported by FOX LA. Notably, at Disneyland in Anaheim, California, increases apply to almost all ticket options, most ranging from 7 to 9%, while the least expensive option stays at $104.
Disneyland's Magic Key annual passes, too, are going to cost more, with increases between 3% and 21%. For instance, an Inspire pass now costs over $1,600. Disney World's date-based ticket prices have remained steady, but annual passes rose by $40 to $50 based on category. Also, parking at these parks has now been increased by around $5, setting standard parking for cars at $35 and preferred parking at $55.
While ticket prices have increased, Disney maintains that the hike is due to continual attempts to add new attractions to parks. A company spokesperson told KTLA that "the value of a theme park visit is reflected in the unique experiences only Disney can offer."
Disney's shift in pricing appears aimed at offsetting losses from its streaming media business, including Disney+. CEO Bob Iger has seeked to bolster revenue by reconnecting with Disney park enthusiasts since he returned to the role nearly a year ago as per a CBS News report.
