On Saturday night, October 7, a single vehicle rollover crash involving a driver operating under the influence of alcohol transpired in Yucaipa, California. The driver, Fabiola Pacheco, was arrested following the accident, as reported by San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department.
Rescue teams from Yucaipa Fire Department and American Medical Response promptly treated the victims. Meanwhile, the incident turned Clarity’s actions and ramifications into an investigation focal point to head towards.
An analysis executed by Deputies S. Theis and P. Tormey of the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) from the Yucaipa Police Department revealed Pacheco's vehicle had been speeding westbound on Wildwood Canyon Road. After losing control and hitting the north curb-line, the vehicle skidded, rolled, and finally came to rest upside down. Pacheco was found to be drunk and consequently charged with felony DUI.
As efforts to mitigate DUI remain a priority, states have implemented stricter laws and penalties, while also focusing on driver education programs. California, one of the states with the lowest alcohol-related accident rate according to the Federal Highway Administration, continues to use diverse strategies to address this issue.
The investigation into the Yucaipa crash is still ongoing, and authorities are encouraging those with information to contact Deputies P. Tormey or S. Theis at the Yucaipa Police Station.
