
The Fairfield Police Department has received a $219,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS) to boost its traffic enforcement program. This backing targets key issues such as distracted driving, impaired driving, and speeding. Sergeant Robert Piro from the Fairfield Police Department duly expressed his gratitude towards the grant, citing its potential to bolster public safety in the community, according to the Fairfield Police Department.
Supported by the grant, the department has drawn up comprehensive plans addressing a range of enforcement operations and educational programs. Included in the plan are DUI checkpoints, targeted patrols, traffic safety presentations, and operations structure to curtail dangerous driver behavior. Enforcement will address key violations leading to accidents, besides improper use of lanes or turning. The grant also paves the way for community presentations on traffic safety and law enforcement.
Raising in the wake of traffic accident surge the setup of this traffic enforcement program leverages the resources offered by the grant to foster community growth, and education, and to address road safety issues.
This program, set to extend till September 2024, promises a detailed solution for traffic safety issues for Fairfield residents. Provisions laid down in the grant, funded by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, aim to decrease the number of serious injuries and fatalities on the roads.
