An unfortunate hit-and-run incident unfolded in Ojai, California on Friday, September 29, causing damage and injury to a father and son. The Ventura County Sheriff's Office reported that the culprits, Brigham Maloney and Conner Brooks, targeted the victims, vandalizing their property before physically assaulting them and fleeing the scene in a white truck.
The victims suffered minor injuries, one refusing medical attention, and their home and vehicle had been egged by suspects. An attempt was made to block the perpetrators' truck with another vehicle, unfortunately, they managed to escape, ditching the truck in a close-by orchard according to the Sheriff's Office.
In search for the assailants, the Sheriff's Office deployed its Aviation Unit, K-9 Unit, and Unmanned Aviation System. Despite an extensive search operation, Maloney, and Brooks at the time were not found.
However, determined deputies continued their investigation and were able to track down the two suspects. Brigham Maloney was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Hit and Run while Conner Brooks was slapped with a Battery charge. Mere contact at Maloney's residence, was enough to arrest both men.
Following the arrest, both men were set free; Maloney posted bail while Brooks agreed to appear in court, at a later date. To protect the victims' privacy, their identities have not been disclosed.
