The Friends of the Huntington Beach Library recently gifted a considerable sum of $250,000 to the Huntington Beach City Library Services Division. This nonprofit organization has been a steadfast supporter of the library system over the years, raising in excess of $2.5 million throughout the past decade, as per the City of Huntington Beach Government.
Early this month, when the hefty donation, gift by the Friends of the Library (FOTL), was gratefully received by the Library Manager Jessica Framson and the Community and Library Services Director Ashley Wysocki. A Surf City Break article pointed out the assorted fundraising strategies implemented by the nonprofit, which included membership dues, programs, the Used Book Store at Central Library and branch locations, and the Gift Shop at Central Library.
Through the Friends of the Library's support, the library system has been able to boost its resources and services, with most of the donations channeled towards buying books and digital materials. Apart from contributing to the book budget, previously purchased by the group was new furniture for Central Library, and essential upgrades like shelving and furniture for branch locations.
Between October 15 and October 21, the community enthusiastically participated in National Friends of the Library Week. To observe this event, the Friends of the Library organized a membership drive at Central Library, providing locals with an opportunity to addedly contribute to the upkeep of their library system. According to Surf City Break, interested parties can sustain their support by joining as a member, patronizing the Used Books Store or the Gift Shop, or partaking in a FOTL-sponsored program.
