An early morning fire last Wednesday, October 4, in the 1200 block of West Rialto Avenue in San Bernardino led to a full commercial fire response by the San Bernardino County Fire Department. The official report states that the fire, of an unknown type, began outside a commercial building and quickly spread to about 50 mattresses.
The firefighters, on arrival, discovered a trapped adult male behind barred windows. Choosing to immediately cut the bars, the man was rescued without needing further treatment. The swift actions of the San Bernardino County Fire department also succeeded in quelling the fire within 30 minutes, preserving the main structure and nearby buildings, while also addressing the hazard of downed power lines. This incident brought to light the importance of residents and businesses in maintaining fire safety.
