While California Highway Patrol's Orange County division is currently investigating this incident's cause, HazMat 220 was dispatched to ensure no additional victims in the area. This was achieved through their use of drone technology, as noted by the Irvine Police Department on Facebook.
Significantly, the accident caused traffic closures and immense congestion on the northbound I-5. According to the Irvine Police Department, the lanes were reopened by 8:00 AM, which was posted on their Facebook platform. They did, however, advise motorists to avoid the Culver, Bryan, and Jamboree routes due to residual traffic clogs.
