The persistent wildfire threat in Orange County has raised concerns about local authority response. In order to provide insight into how they manage these crises, the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) recently organized an event where journalists, including Fox LA's Christina Pascucci, observed the OCFA's strategies for effective and safe wildfire containment.
During the event, Air Operations, Wildland, and Public Information experts from the OCFA explained their wildfire combat tactics. Their key objective being to contain 95% of all vegetation fires to less than 10 acres, a crucial aspect of their strategy involves close collaboration with reporters to convey accurate information to the community.
Attendees, clad in safety gear, participated in drills with firefighters to demonstrate the intricacy of firefighting. Utilizing hose packs, hand crews, dozers, and engine companies, journalists got a first-hand glimpse of ground resources cooperating with aerial support to control fires.
The OCFA is committed to protecting the region, working in constant synergy with the media and maintaining fluid communication with the community. The firefighters' efforts to neutralize these fires and safeguard the communities they serve were showcased in a OCFA PIO Twitter post.
