Multiple fires ignited yesterday near 452 N San Fernando Rd. in the Lincoln Heights area, necessitating quick action by the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD). The LAFD reported that the largest fire stretched over approximately half an acre of grass and posed a threat to a nearby one-story commercial building, while other smaller blazes comprised waste materials and local vegetation.
The local Metro A (Blue) Line service came to a temporary standstill due to the fires' proximity to the light rail tracks. This service disruption affected Lincoln Heights / Cypress Park Station, resulting in a standstill of all services in the nearby area until the LAFD operations were complete. Necessary updates on the service disruptions were communicated to the transit riders via the Metro LA Alerts Twitter account.
The LAFD ALERT - UPDATE FIRE KNOCKDOWN stated that 34 firefighters managed to put out the majority of the fires within 57 minutes. The fires covered an estimated 0.75 acres. There were no injuries reported and no need for evacuations amidst this event.
