The Los Angeles mayoral delegation, led by Mayor Karen Bass, concluded a successful visit to Washington, D.C. on Thursday.
They achieved a notable victory, securing substantial federal funding for clean energy, homelessness reduction, and public safety initiatives.
Key accomplishments include a $48 million grant for the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power (LADWP) and stronger ties to the federal government, as reported by the City of Los Angeles Mayor's Office.
The visit yielded numerous positive outcomes for Los Angeles. These include eased rental assistance certification requirements, additional housing voucher funding, and increased efforts to combat opioid and fentanyl overdoses. These measures spring from discussions the delegation held with top officials, such as the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Secretary Marcia Fudge, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and Department of Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough, among others.
