The City of Long Beach is expanding the Long Beach Resource Line, aiming to enhance support for children under five. The latest press release from the City of Long Beach states that this platform is a cooperative effort by Help Me Grow LA, First 5 LA, and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. The aim is to connect families with early childhood development resources.
In an ambitious endeavour titled Help Me Grow LA, the L.A. County's Department of Public Health and First 5 LA are working collaborative. In 2022, Long Beach City was awarded $500,000 from First 5 LA, over three years. This grant will help to strengthen and create fresh referral pathways, ensuring service accessibility for caregivers. The press release suggests that the aim of these funds is to improve connections among providers for a coordinated approach to developmental aid.
Speaking about this expansion, Mayor Rex Richardson communicated his excitement and reiterated Long Beach's commitment towards child welfare. He believes the expanded Resource Line will aid residents in sourcing information and resources related to child development. Kelly Colopy, Director of Health and Human Services, underlined that this initiative is a concerted effort by several community organizations for providing timely intervention to children.
Although being home to nearly 466,000 individuals, the City of Long Beach maintains a sense of strong community ethos despite urban congruity. This dichotomy of cultures is accentuated by the city's diverse attraction points constituting vistas of downtown areas and extensive pristine beaches, attracting substantial tourist as well as business footfall.
With the support of Unite Us, the City of Long Beach Resource Directory is expected to provide a user-friendly access point to the crucial resources. Users can fill the assistance request form, powered by Unite Us, online or connect telephonically on 562.570.4246 from Monday to Friday (9:00 AM to 5:30 PM) to seek guidance about child development and related programs. Resource Line navigators will facilitate connections with local organizations across Long Beach.
