
On October 21, Long Beach will celebrate the opening of its Future LB Youth Employment Center. The center is designed to assist individuals aged 14-30 in developing key skills and setting careers on a successful trajectory. The city's official press release clarifies, the event is to be in located at 508 W. Willow St., featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony, vendors, food, and music.
Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson shares his excitement, stating, "The Future LB Youth Job Center will offer opportunities for our young people to pursue passions, hone skills, and secure fulfilling careers." Seventh District Councilmember, Roberto Uranga, also shares this sentiment, adding, "This employment center provides tools, resources, and connections to ensure our youth and young adults enter the workforce preparedly and confidently."
Operated by Pacific Gateway Workforce Innovation Network, a branch of the City's Department of Economic Development, the Future LB Youth Employment Center offers free services and resources via funding from the federal Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.
These services include on-the-job training, paid internships, career exploration resources, case management, and connections to employment opportunities. The center operates from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on weekdays.
