Yesterday, the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) responded to a case of apparent suicide in the 5900 block of Willow Street. Officers discovered the scene after attending to an assist fire call. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner's Office is proceeding with the task to notify the deceased's next of kin. Investigations are still ongoing, as reported by the LBPD.

These incidents unfolded amid recent troublesome events in the city. On a similar note, another LBPD news release reported an assault and a traffic fatality within the same day.

In a separate incident that occurred near midnight, officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Rose Avenue upon a report of an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, they found an adult male adult with non-life-threatening stab wounds. The incident started as a verbal argument with an unknown suspect who later attacked him. The suspect is still outstanding.

Simultaneously, a traffic collision at around 2:07 a.m. on the 710 freeway near 7th Street took another life. A private vehicle collided with a Long Beach Fire Department unit. The vehicle carried a female adult passenger and male adult driver, with the former succumbing to her injuries. Investigation revealed speed and intoxication as factors leading to the crash, ensuing the male driver's arrest. The private vehicle reportedly hit the rear of the firefighting unit and then the center median.

Up-to-date information and further details about these incidents can be found on the LBPD's official blotter.
