On Friday, October 13, the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) conducted a cliff rescue operation in Beverly Crest, near Mulholland Drive and Skyline Drive. The operation was initiated in response to a vehicle having fallen off the side of the road as per LAFD ALERT. The LAFD's Air Operations team moved quickly to reach the vehicle's occupant and manage any potential risk.

Initially, a Firefighter-Paramedic was lowered down to the vehicle, due to the car's considerable distance from the road. However, the steep terrain and complicated position of the vehicle led to a change in approach.

In response to these conditions, a hoist operation was deployed by the rescue specialists. This approach allowed for a safer and more efficient extraction of the vehicle's occupant, according to the LAFD ALERT - UPDATE.

The LAFD team successfully rescued a man estimated to be 27 years old. He was quickly transported to a local trauma center, although he remained in a critical state following the rescue operation. The incident is now under the purview of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), under the designation LAPD Inc #3100.
