The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) managed to control a fire in a two-story apartment building on Friday, October 6. Based on the report from the LAFD, the team arrived at 531 N Soto St. in Boyle Heights around 3:24 PM, finding heavy smoke and significant fire in the structure's attic. Firefighters quickly engaged with the situation to control the fire.

As mentioned in the LAFD press release, this 7,528 square-foot apartment building was built in 1926 and comprises multiple units. The fire, concentrated in one unit and the attic, lead to the immediate evacuation of the occupants. During this time, to create vertical ventilation, and allow the trapped smoke and heat to escape, fire crews began cutting holes in the roof.

During the operation, a 7-year-old girl affected by the smoke was promptly evacuated from the building. Fortunately, there were no other reported injuries.
